Year 8 Art students work with Nottingham Contemporary Gallery

This term, two Year 8 classes (8t2 and 8t3) are participating in a schools’ project in partnership with Nottingham Contemporary Gallery. The scheme involves linking an artist or writer with the school, who then work with students to develop a cultural response to the main exhibitions at the Nottingham Contemporary Gallery through a series of gallery visits and workshops. The project finishes with an exhibition of students’ work in February at the Gallery in the Lace Market area of the town centre. 8t2 are pictured enjoying their gallery visit and also their art workshop which was held the following week. The theme of the art project is ‘making connections’ and focuses on the physical aspects and associated meaning of materials and objects. Students had great fun using everyday objects to create their artwork and learnt an array of new art techniques in the process. 8t3 will be working with a writer later in the term to develop their own response to the theme.
