GCSE Students visit Confetti Studios

3 of our GCSE Performing Arts students spent an afternoon at Confetti Studios on 17th March.

This was an opportunity to gain an insight into sound and lighting on a professional level.

They were shown the recording studios, ‘live’ rooms, studio for Notts TV as well as a 24 track tape deck. Tape was something new to them in this age of digital recording!

We then moved to a studio which had been set up purely for their visit. They watched two Level 3 students perform a set on sound and lights to show them what was possible and then were able to program a set for themselves.

After attaching microphones to a drum kit, they worked on mixing the sound until they were happy with it.

The highlight was seeing our students frantically searching through their play lists in order to hear it being played through professional stage amps. Needless to say that ear plugs were needed!

Thank you to the staff and students at Confetti who made the visit so worthwhile – This was the first connection that Confetti had managed to secure with Djanogly and now a full day workshop is being discussed for some time in July.

Well done to Tkya Taylor, Awais Ali and Sean Easton-Marshall.
