Voice Choice Project

In February, the start of a very exciting project began.

This project was organised through the Music Hub and offered the opportunity for Year 7 students to work with professional musicians in a series of Opera Workshops.

Over the course of five sessions, 30 Year 7’s have worked on acting, expression, singing, song-writing and performing which will culminate in a performance of ‘Carmen’ on the 22nd April.

The lyrics and indeed the music to some of the songs have been composed by the students themselves which will be performed within the mini version of the Opera ‘Carmen’. We have songs about matadors, picadors and factory workers in Madrid!

The students have thrown themselves into all activities and their creativity has been astounding.

They have been helped and supported by Year 10 students as their mentors. These students have also got involved in the composition process with the highlight being a rap, written by Baudowin Kalonji.

Thanks to the other mentors, Jessica Brown, Nadejda Hankova, Markesiyah Deshields, Dupinder Singh and Ramirez Fekete.

Dates for your diary- Don’t miss this chance to see our students in action.
