Pre 16: VQR Level 2 Certificate in Hairdressing services

A nationally-recognised qualification that will introduce students to the world of work and develop basic hairdressing skills they can use as a starting point for a career. They will develop the skills required to assist in the creative skill of dressing womens hair, the art of creating a hair and beauty image, how to be effective when shampooing and conditioning hair or provide a good consultation service for your clients.

The course is a pass or fail course. Students will be assessed by continuous theory and practical assessments. The theory element is assessed by written tests, there are also in depth assignments for each unit. The practical assessments are performed in the salon on clients. All theory and practical work will be collated and presented in an evidence portfolio.

This qualification will lead  to a Post 16 qualification in Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing which units include cutting colouring and perming.
 

Mandatory - from this group you'll need to cover a minimum of 6 units and earn a minimum of 25 credits.

Post 16: VQR Level 2 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing

 (Equivalent to 1 A-level)

This qualification allows learners to develop skills essential to working in a hairdressing salon, such as forming good working relationships with clients and awareness of health and safety, as well as the specialist skills needed to carry out hairdressing services. Individuals will carry out their work within a realistic work context.

This is a pass or fail course. Students will be assessed by continuous theory and practical assessments. The theory element is assessed by written assignments and end of unit tests. The practical assessments are performed in the salon on clients. All theory and practical work will be collated and presented in an evidence portfolio.

This qualification will lead to a Post 16 qualification in Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing which units include monitoring health and safety, creative cutting and styling.

 

Mandatory - from this group you'll need to cover a minimum of 7 units and earn a minimum of 36 credits.

Post 16: VQR Level 3 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing

 (Equivalent to 2 A-level)

The Level 3 VRQ in Hairdressing enables students to gain a job-ready qualification. This qualification will equip learners with the required attributes, skills, knowledge and understanding needed to perform professional services for clients via employment or self-employment in the Hairdressing industry.

This is a pass or fail course. Students will be assessed by continuous theory and practical assessments. The theory element is assessed by written assignments and end of unit tests. The practical assessments are performed in the salon on clients. All theory and practical work will be collated and presented in an evidence portfolio.

This qualification will lead to a work ready standard of hairdressing. Students could progress on to Level 4 in management.
