GCSE: BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Award in Health and Social Care

 (Equivalent to 1 GCSE)

This qualification inspires learners to consider a career in Health and Social Care, or related sectors. Students gain a broad knowledge and understanding of the Health and Social Care sector, for example the development of individuals from the age of new-born to elderly. The course is 120 guided learning hours (GLH). The 4 units studied on this course are:

  • Human Lifespan Development
  • Health and Social Care Values
  • Effective Communication in Health and Social Care
  • Equality and Diversity in Health and Social Care

The course is graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction. This equates to a C, B or A Grade. The course is assessed via 1 external exam and 3 portfolios, which are internally assessed. This qualification supports the transition to the more specialised Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
