Djanogly Festival of Words and World Book Day

World Book Day was in Thursday 2nd March. To celebrate, students had a number of interesting additions to their school day. This included being read to by their teachers at the start of each lesson. Book choices from teachers were varied ranging from Horrid Henry to Grayson Perry’s Descent of Man, and The BFG to One flew over the cuckoo’s nest. There were also a number of unusual book characters at school ranging from the comical to the scary courtesy of teachers who had come in fancy dress. To launch the start of Accelerated Reader at Djanogly (a reading intervention programme that students in Years 7,8, and 9 have just begun), students took part in a special Drop Everything and Read event during their English lessons in which they aimed to be the class who read the most pages. This was won by 8t2 who each get to select a book for the school library to buy with their own dedication and message inside. Students are pictured being shown the 'Bag of Life' items brought in by their teacher, Mr Holliday.
