Cricket Success

Yesterday was the opening game of the season for the Nottingham Hub U15 side, as they played an U15 XI at Nottingham High School:

MCCF Nottingham Hub 106 (29 overs)

Nottingham High School 103 (29 overs)

MCCF Hub won by 3 runs.

A last over thriller which featured some impressive and significant performances from the trio of Djanogly boys who played.

Fardeen Ahmed bowled some very tight overs in the middle of the innings to restrict and build pressure on the opposition. He also 'banged the drum' all innings to keep his team focused and motivated in the field - What a fantastic attitude this boy has!

Wafa Bhatti scored scored a pivotal 30 runs batting at 10, coming in staring down the barrel at 60-8 and taking his team past 100 (next top score was 16). This particular boy has never played any club cricket before this season and lacked a lot of confidence when he started coming to the Hub seasons in the winter. He is someone that has made incredible progress and today proved this with his match winning innings. He was so delighted that he asked if he could take a photo of the scoresheet to take away with him. A genuine Man of the Match innings from him today.

Bilal Hussain came on to bowl the final over of the match today under real pressure. He demonstrated impressive composure and determination to succeed. The tight over that he bowled sealed the victory for his team by bowling the final opposition batter out with only 2 balls remaining, when only one clean hit away from losing the game. It was great to see Bilal (and his team) with their passionate celebrations; it was like they had just won the World Cup Final.

Please pass on my congratulations to these boys for their contributions to today's victory. They have represented themselves, their Hub and their School proudly.
