Djanogly City Academy GCSE results statement
Andy Smith, Principal of Djanogly City Academy, said: “We are incredibly proud of the diverse student community that we serve. Our students achieve remarkable success in the face of considerable challenges and they have shown great fortitude and resilience despite significant upheaval during the last academic year”.
“Our school leavers have not had the results day celebration that they would normally receive due to the impact of the coronavirus, but I want them to know how proud we are of them and wish this summer’s school leavers every success for their future after finishing their GCSEs with us”.
“Our staff have been working tirelessly to ensure that we do our best for every child whom we serve facing unprecedented challenges since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. We are pleased that the government decided to use centre assessment grades. Teachers know their students best and have the most accurate insight and understanding of what they would have achieved had they been able to sit their exams”.
“We are confident that the results calculated by teachers – the centre assessment grades - are an accurate reflection of our students’ abilities. It has been an anxious time for our school community, and very challenging for my staff. The last minute changes to GCSE exam grading, whilst welcome, have added to that pressure. However, we are pleased to see our school leavers successfully graduate from us and move onto the next chapter of their lives.”
