Djanogly City Academy’s GCSE Class of 2021 are praised for their resilience
Djanogly City Academy students have been praised for their determination and resilience after receiving their GCSE results today – August 12th, 2021.
Djanogly City Academy, which is Ofsted graded ‘good’, is the highest performing secondary school in Nottingham for students’ progress, according to the government’s last performance tables published in 2019 prior to the pandemic.
The emergence of the pandemic has meant adjusting to new challenges during the last 18 months putting safety measures in place, adapting to home learning and supporting families with food parcels.
Andy Smith, Principal of Djanogly City Academy, said: “We are incredibly proud of the diverse student community that we serve and our scholars have once again achieved remarkable results during another unprecedented year of disruption.
“They truly deserve the amazing grades that they have earned having shown great fortitude and resilience. Everyone at Djanogly City Academy is so proud of them and we wish this summer’s school leavers every success for the future.”
He explained: “Staff have worked tirelessly to ensure they have done their best for every child. Our teacher assessed grades have been determined on large portfolios of excellent work created by our scholars, even when we have had periods of disruption and remote learning.
“Despite another year of unprecedented circumstances as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are very pleased to see our school leavers successfully graduate from us and move onto the next chapter in their lives in further education, employment or training.
“We hope that they will all continue to feel a part of our Djanogly community. We will continue to welcome our former scholars back to our Djanogly City Alumni Cafe, so we can celebrate their fantastic successes and career journeys.”
