Welcome letter to Parents/Carers and friends of DCA
Dear Parent/Carer and friends of Djanogly City Academy,
You will now be aware that Mr Belshaw leaves Djanogly City Academy at the end of this academic year to pursue his career abroad. We are all very grateful to Mr Belshaw for his inspired leadership, direction and commitment to our school, which he leaves in an amazingly successful place. We are of course also very excited for him in his new venture and wish him and his family every success and happiness.
I now have been gifted by the trustees of the Djanogly Learning Trust with the absolute privilege of picking up the reins as the new Principal of Djanogly City Academy; an honour for which I feel truly blessed.
Having lived in Nottingham for the past 30 years, I am now returning from working most recently in Warwickshire to serve the communities close to where I live with my wife and children, and to lead Djanogly City Academy through its next exciting phase of growth and development.
Djanogly City Academy is a school of excellence, where every scholar will be challenged and supported to achieve beyond their potential and where we consider the work of all, staff and scholars, to be unfinished until it is the very best we can make it. I want every child who comes to Djanogly to be a proud partner in one of the most successful schools in the country and, most importantly, to leave with the knowledge and skills that will see them make a demonstrable difference to society, as leaders determined to ‘make things happen’ for the better of our communities, our city, our world.
My expectations for academic standards and for behaviour will be unapologetically high, but I will work tirelessly with my dedicated team of staff to afford every willing scholar the opportunity to be the best possible. The success of our scholars will be found not just through external examinations, but also by their character development, their commitment, and their resilience.
My pledge to you is to make Djanogly City Academy a beacon of the very best in education, seen and admired locally and nationally as a place of excellence; a school we will always be proud to call ours.
I look forward to meeting you all in due course come the autumn term. Until then, may I wish you all a relaxing and peaceful summer.
